Coney Island is slated for destruction in September 2007. Plans seem to fluctuate; there has been talk of building condos, building hotels, or building a new and improved amusement park. The current set-up of Astroland and Deno's Wonder Wheel Park, not to mention the boardwalk itself, hold a great deal of nostaligia and charm for many New York residents. It's really unfortunate to see this bit of New York history disappear.
