The official crossing to Myanmar was closed around the time I arrived, and still has not re-opened. The main illegal crossing-by-innertube happens right next to the official crossing, which is weird, and of course that was also shut down.

This man used the boat stand instead, which is more expensive, semi-hidden and always running. His home had been wiped out by Cyclone Nargis so he'd moved to Myawaddy in hopes of finding paid work.
